Perineal Steam

Is the scientific term to what is popularly known as Vaginal steaming, V-steam, Yoni steam, Sits baths, etc. This steaming method delivers herbal remedies to restore health and balance in the female and male reproductive system. It has been an ancient practice lost through time and making its presence again in the mainstream. Origins of this practice dates back thousands of years in African and Asian cultures. Indian cultures utilized this practice using smoke instead of steam. Nu Bodymind offers the perineal steam service tailored to each individual to assist in embodied exploration and provide guidance through healing physical manifestations of trauma. There are several programs to choose from aside from basic single sessions and packages.

Single Sessions - 30 minutes

Each individual will complete an intake form to determine their needs and recommended herbal blend. They will be escorted to the treatment room and be instructed to remove all clothing and wear the provided gown. The gown will help trap the steam and allow it to absorb into the perineum and surrounding areas for optimal treatment. After changing into the gown, they will be told how to sit on the steam seat and provided tea or water to drink. They will be left alone basking in the ambience of aromatherapy and soft music for 30 minutes before the therapist returns to end the session.

The herbal blend administered for each steam session depends on the source of symptoms being treated. This information is obtained during the intake process and updated after every 3-4 sessions as physiological changes and nervous system regulations begin to occur.  

This program is designed for women who are preparing for pregnancy and would like assistance on increasing chances of conception. The therapist will provide suggestions on diet, exercise, offered services and frequency of such, and adjust herbal blends as necessary. On average, women prepare within 3 months in advance making adjustments to their lifestyle to prepare their bodies to carry a full-term pregnancy. This program may help reduce pregnancy symptoms, and lower chances of a high-risk pregnancy. Especially, if lifestyle changes are carried out throughout the entire pregnancy.

Steaming during pregnancy is contraindicated, however a modified version of steaming is a great way to prepare for labor and delivery. A five-week program beginning during week 39 of pregnancy will administer a modified version of steaming and careful consideration to herbal blend adjustments each week. It is a requirement to meet for two weeks prior to the start of session at 37 weeks for proper screening. Steaming for labor preparation may be helpful for women that have concerns with:

There are three phases of postpartum. Uterine cleanse phase, uterine strengthening phase, and uterine circulation phase.

Phase one focuses on cleansing leftover birth matter and replenishing blood, lost fluid and energy to heal the uterine lining.

Phase two, the herbal steam blend is adjusted as the uterus continues to cleanse, heal, and begin to strengthen.

Phase three focuses on blood circulation and boosting energy.
